Alvin Community College will offer new automotive technologies and welding programs

Alvin Community College received approval in August to begin offering new degrees and certificates through its welding and automotive technology programs, according to an August 19 press release from the ACC.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Council issued an advisory on Aug. 2 that the ACC may expand its program offerings, according to ACC communications coordinator John Tompkins. The community college can now offer an associate’s degree in applied science and a level 2 certificate in automotive technology at JB Hensler College and Career Academy. CCA may also begin offering AAS and Level 2 Welding Certification.

“Providing these graduate degrees and certificates will provide our students with a higher level of education that will benefit them in the pursuit of their careers,” said ACC Vice President of Education Cindy Griffith in the communicated. “These credentials will continue to pay dividends for our students long after graduation.”

The new advanced diplomas and certificates will be available to students from August 2022. The CCA has offered the Level 1 certificate for both programs for many years, Tompkins said. Community impact journal.
