Brad Pellman, ASE President

After 10 years as a member of the ASE Board of Directors, I have the honor and privilege to serve as President as ASE celebrates its 50th anniversary. It is very rewarding to give back to our industry and help guide ASE and its exciting initiatives on the horizon. As an ASE Certified Professional who employs ASE Certified Technicians in my shop in Boulder, Colorado, I know firsthand the value and importance of ASE to a business, its customers, and our industry.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the ASE. As the Board reflects on the many accomplishments of ASE, it is also focusing on initiatives that will benefit ASE stakeholders over the next 50 years. Technology is changing rapidly, and as it changes, ASE must keep pace. For example, ASE introduced the ASE Renewal app to provide automotive service technicians with a convenient way to keep their certifications up to date. As the app’s popularity continues to grow, we are looking to expand this valuable resource and incorporate content on the latest technologies for a more comprehensive learning experience.

The evolution of technology is also driving other major initiatives at ASE, including the development and implementation of ADAS testing, as well as safety testing for hybrid and electric vehicles. ASE has planned an upcoming EV Safety Summit and will host workshops with industry experts that will focus on creating guidelines and evaluation criteria for service technicians and vehicle personnel. workshop who work on electric and electric/hybrid vehicles. Once again, ASE is at the forefront of evolving technologies.

As ASE expands its scope, the value of the ASE brand also increases. Service and repair centers, both dealership and aftermarket, have become much more interested in what ASE has to offer and are encouraging their employees to get certified so they can show that they are employing ASE certified professionals. From a business perspective, having ASE certified staff makes the difference in the marketplace. ASE certification means that high-quality, state-of-the-art professionals work within a workshop’s staff, showing vehicle owners that the company can be trusted.

As we are busy working for the future, it is important to pause and commemorate a milestone in ASE’s history. For half a century, ASE has maintained and promoted high standards of service and repair through the assessment, certification and accreditation of current and future vehicle maintenance professionals. We invite the industry to join us in celebrating our 50th anniversary throughout the year. An exciting highlight will be Automotive Service Professionals Month in June, when we honor and recognize the valuable work that ASE Certified Service Professionals do every day.

On behalf of the ESA Board of Directors, we thank all those who support the ESA mission. We are proud of how far ASE has come and excited about the future. We know ASE will continue to provide a valuable service to the transportation industry and the vehicle owners it serves for another 50 years and beyond.
